Faith and futures in a world in crisis

HOLY CITY’s 2011-12 session theme, ‘CHOICE / CUTS’, focuses on the stark choices facing us today in Scotland and the world beyond. How we see the past, present and future; how we employ our imagination, nurturing, compassion and creativity; what we value in education, economics, health, hope (and ultimately) our humanity.

The choices with which we’ll engage each month are not a million miles from those Jesus confronted:

• Oct: LOVE OR APATHY?
• Nov: US OR THEM?
• Dec: HISTORY OR HERSTORY?
• Jan: NOW OR THEN?
• Feb: WEALTH OR SUFFICIENCY?
• Mar: WHOLENESS OR HOPELESSNESS?
• Apr: KIRK OR KINGDOM?
• May: FREE OR FATED?

What, on earth, are we going to make of these? Do join us in our pondering and discerning.

What is Holy City?

The ecumenical adult event, with workshops and worship, in Glasgow city centre, enabled by the Wild Goose Resource Group and an assortment of citizens.

HOLY CITY is a time and place for certainty and doubt, praising and questioning God, an occasion to re-discover the value of conversation and debate, to savour silence and scripture, to celebrate song and symbol.

HOLY CITY focuses on realities of choice, lifestyle, culture, politics, personal agendas and the relevance of faith in urban life in the contemporary world.

HOLY CITY takes place in Renfield St Stephen’s Church, 260 Bath Street, Glasgow.
